Vaginal hysterectomy is a surgical procedure to remove the uterus from the vagina. During a vaginal hysterectomy, the surgeon loosens the ovaries, fallopian tubes, uterus from the top of the vagina, and the blood vessels and connective tissue that support it before removing the uterus.
